Education at Harvard

INP provides students across Harvard University with the opportunity to better understand, manage, and resolve conflict in their own lives and as emerging leaders across sectors.

1.  Courses:  INP supports an undergraduate platform of activities on conflict resolution, including an annual course taught by Professor Shapiro called, “Gen Ed 1033: Conflict Resolution in a Divided World.” In this course, students delve into negotiation theory, including its rational, emotional, and identity-based dimensions, and they take part in dynamic, experiential exercises and self-reflection activities to enhance their knowledge and know-how of negotiation.

2.  Guest Lectures.  INP faculty lecture across Harvard University, including at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard Divinity School, Harvard College, and Harvard Medical School.

3.  Executive Education. INP faculty contribute to executive education programs including Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation and the Harvard Kennedy School’s Leadership and Decision Making program.

4.  Harvard College Student Negotiation ClubINP advises the “Harvard College International Negotiation Program.”  This club serves as a resource for undergraduate students interested in negotiation and as a hub to strengthen student’s knowledge of and skill in conflict resolution. The program also provides opportunities for students to spread INP’s negotiation frameworks to communities, academic institutions, and high school initiatives.

5.  Student Research Program. INP engages Harvard students to contribute to its research and educational initiatives. It works with graduate and undergraduate researchers to further INP’s research and educational efforts and to provide hands-on experience in the field of conflict resolution.
